Success Stories
- A large restaurant chain receives a complaint of sexual harassment from a store manager against a high level executive and hires Puente to conduct an investigation. Over 75% of the employees interviewed during the investigation (including store managers and other high level managers) are Spanish-speaking or Spanish dominant. The employees interviewed comment on the comfort level they feel during the interviews since they are able to speak to someone who understands their language and their culture. The claim is ultimately resolved, the company avoids litigation and employees report confidence that their employer treats their complaints seriously and objectively.
- A rapidly growing company (who has experienced an equally rapid rise in employment-related claims) hires Puente to establish an HR Department and to provide employee and management training in English and Spanish. As a result of these services, employees say they have a better understanding of the company's policies and procedures, and the incidence of employment-related complaints dramatically decreases.
- A large company is implementing, for the first time in its 25 year history, a comprehensive performance evaluation system. In addition to assisting them with developing a customized evaluation form, Puente conducts extensive management training, providing both the legal and practical aspects of drafting evaluation forms and meeting with employees. Puente places a particular emphasis on role playing for difficult meetings and assistance with putting the supervisor's ideas into writing. The company is able to implement its evaluation system successfully and participants comment on the benefit for both employees and managers.
- A public entity pays an additional premium to bilingual employees who assist the public in Spanish and English, but they have no way of certifying that the employees who say they are bilingual really speak Spanish. Puente's Spanish Business Solutions Department develops a customized testand a comprehensive grading mechanism, and administers the test to all bilingual employees. Puente then develops a curriculum for a Conversational Spanish Course and trains the most fluent Spanish-speaking employees to lead that course. The test is not contested by any employee or applicant. Both the Court and the employees are confident in the test’s ability to measure Spanish language skills.
