April Szabo
HR Consultant
April Szabo's work at Puente concentrates on conducting workplace assessments, including HR department assessments, climate surveys and wage and hour audits, and workplace investigations involving all areas of HR and employment law. She also drafts and reviews HR policies/procedures and employee handbooks. Ms. Szabo’s experience in employee relations, coupled with her legal training, enables her to work with Puente’s clients to identify and resolve a wide variety of workplace issues and to bring immediate and lasting results in the workplace.

Ms. Szabo received her undergraduate degree in English from the University of San Diego and her law degree from Whittier Law School, where she graduated second in her class and served as Editor in Chief of the school’s Law Review. She also holds a Human Resources Management certificate from the Extension program at the University of California, Irvine and completed coursework in Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Ms. Szabo joined Puente after ten years with Washington Mutual Bank, including seven years with the Employee Relations team. During this time, her work focused on investigations into complaints of harassment, discrimination, retaliation and numerous other claims of unlawful or inappropriate workplace conduct involving all levels of employees and management. Ms. Szabo also conducted comprehensive workplace climate surveys and counseled managers regarding various employee issues.
